Lessons

Each lesson is tailored to the unique needs, goals, and abilities of each student and incorporate a variety of tools and approaches.  The amount of time spent sitting at the piano varies from student to student.  Here's a look at the variety of resources in my teaching toolbox:

Mission

Regardless of the unique musical goals and needs of each student, the the guiding mission of this studio remains the same:

to teach, train and educate students toward an excellent and life-long pursuit of music.

Music Theory

A well-rounded and accomplished musician must have a good, solid foundation of music theory.  It is the basis of strong literacy and advanced understanding of complex musical ideas and structures.

The approach to theory is as varied as the student. Sometimes we use textbooks,  computer apps or in-studio theory games.

Curriculum

There is no standard curriculum in the studio.  Each student has different goals and musical interests.  My approach is tailored to each student, and for that reason, there are a variety of resources I use to teach students how to play the piano.

Technique

Technique is vitally important for full development of the musician.  As such, my approach to technique is what is known as the "Taubman Technique." Taubman emphasizes proper bodily alignment and freedom of movement to "play with brilliance and ease."

Multi-Sensory

Much of the time, the youngest students benefit greatly from a multi-sensory approach to beginning rhythm and literacy.  Engaging the whole body through various rhythm and movement activities makes learning fun, fast-paced and full of energy for the tiniest aspiring musicians.
